Tantabiddi/ Ningaloo Coast:
With the weather in Exmouth fining up last week, saw more boats head out fishing. The boys who hired the 6m hire boat and 7.85m hire boat, targetted Tantabiddi fishing for Black Marlin. They began with a fishing charter and caught several small Black Marlin in the 40 -60 kg range. Thereafter they reported the marlin fishing side to be relatively quiet. Sharks were still a problem for many boats, where it was a race to get the fish on deck.
John and his family from Victoria, hired the 6m polycraft boat and fished straight out from Tantabiddi. They caught several Mackeral around the 1 metre length, and saw several whales and the odd Manta. The kids were amazed and had never seen so much marine life.
Squid are still plentiful around the weedy and reefy bottoms all through Exmouth Gulf and north and south of Bundegi. Boys who hired the 7m forward cabin boat went wide and came back early after catching their fish quota of: 9 red emperor, 6 snapper and 1 job fish.
With the weather expecting to be wind free again for most of this week, there will be plenty of boats heading out fishing
